Cala Homes has been given the go-ahead to rent airspace from Aberdeen City Council in order to build a new £4million bridge – if plans for housing at Pitfodels are approved.
The infrastructure forms part of Cala’s plans to deliver 100 new homes at Pitfodels, creating a mix of one to five-bedroom properties between Cults and Garthdee.
The plans include the delivery of a long-awaited new crossing between Garthdee and Cults, as well as creating areas of public open space.
The proposed link road between Inchgarth Road and North Deeside Road would ease pressure on two historic bridges – at Pitfodels Station Road and Westerton Road – and could also unlock new public transport routes.
The agreement to lease the airspace was approved by the council’s finance committee this week.
Welcoming the decision, Ross Maclennan, Land Director at Cala Homes (North), said: “The £4m bridge and link road will help to address long-standing concerns around traffic movement, congestion and road safety in the area.”
