Aberdeen City Council has completed a £9million programme of road resurfacing and pothole repairs across the city, with a series of major improvement projects already finished and more continuing over the summer.
The local authority said its capital road improvement programme totals about £9.376 million, with a further £190,000 allocated this financial year for repairing potholes.
Works have already been completed at Culter House Road, Bridge of Dee, Concraig Park, the B999, Beach Esplanade, Pittodrie Place, Ruthrieston Circle, Summer Street Car Park, Auchmill Terrace and Park Street.
Road surface replacement schemes are also taking place at Wellington Road, Garthdee Road, Provost Watt roundabout, East North Street, Cove Road, Great Northern Road, Prospect Terrace, Mansefield Road, Greenbank Crescent, Jesmond Drive, North Deeside Road, Cairngorm Gardens and Justice Port Roundabout.
Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Ian Yuill said: “Many of the works are scheduled when the weather is better and also when traffic is at its lightest during school holidays, to cause the least amount of disruption.
"We understand they can be frustrating and ask motorists for their understanding and tolerance while roadworks are going on around Aberdeen.”
Aberdeen City Council Finance and Resources Convener Councillor Alex McLellan said: “Aberdeen City Council is investing nearly £10 million annually to repairing and improving our cities roads and pavements to ensure the city continues to be a place people want to live, work, raise a family or do business.”
