Aberdeen Arts Centre will be working with some exciting professional creatives as part of their Summer Sessions this July, helping to start off the Summer for 0-17 year olds with a bang.
Local creatives Leah Christie, Sarah Helena Ord, Mark Wood, Alexander Penter, Angela Thouless, Eve Martin and Fraser Shaw will be inspired by the Land and the Sea to create workshops that are inspiring, adventurous and huge fun. These will include drama, crafts, family play sessions, and introductions to Street Theatre and Beat Boxing.
Amy Liptrott, Director at Aberdeen Arts Centre is excited about the team: “I’m delighted this fantastic group of local talent will be joining us this summer. They bring with them a wealth of experience, creativity and enthusiasm and I know the workshops they lead will be lots of fun for everyone involved!”
Aberdeen Arts Centre was established in 1963 and has provided opportunities for young people to engage creatively since it started.
“Along with providing facilities for local groups, education, learning and providing opportunities for people to get involved are crucial to us. It’s part of the reason we exist. Continuing the legacy of so many before us, including the brilliant Annie Inglis, is vital to us now and into the future.”
Castlegate Arts was formed to continue the work of Aberdeen Arts Centre in the late 1990s following funding cuts by the council. Aberdeen Arts Centre is a community arts venue in the heart of Aberdeen, delivering a varied programme of theatre, dance, music, spoken word, comedy, film and creative learning events.
Its Mission is to provide the people of the North-east of Scotland with an exciting and welcoming venue, where they can experience and participate in everything the performing arts has to offer.
