Aberdeen-based diamond wire cutting specialists CUT announced a very strong first six months in 2025.

Subsea cutting projects were completed by CUT in the Gulf of Mexico, UK, Norway, Senegal, Angola, Nigeria, Singapore, Turkey, Italy, Ireland, and others. Impending projects will take CUT to Australia, Malaysia, Libya, and Brazil, as well as their core markets of the North Sea, Southeast Asia, and Gulf of Mexico.

Bruce Sinclair, CUT Business Development Manager, said: “We’ve used a range of machines, from our smallest chain cutters and 10” machines up to our 240” machine, which is one of the larger machines in our fleet. And, of course, we used our own unique diamond wire, which is by far the best performing diamond wire available.”

The cutting requirements have included wreck removals, pipelines, offshore jacket legs and braces, monopiles, mooring chains, cable protection systems, bend stiffeners, jumpers, conductors, and umbilicals.

Bruce Sinclair added “Our clients appreciate the certainty of completion we provide, the smallest and lightest machines on the market, and the professionalism of our personnel. CUT insist on using our own personnel on every project, to ensure that if the unexpected happens, we still find a solution and get the job done.

"Only CUT have an impeccable track record. The challenges currently being faced by the oil producers due to the EPL, and the exodus of companies out of the North Sea may accelerate the offshore decommissioning timeline.

"While this has potential to put a strain on the supply chain, it will also focus the market on securing the most efficient, safe, and cost-effective solutions for subsea cutting. The patented CUT solutions will save our clients many days on their removal projects.”
