Aberdeen-based diamond wire cutting specialist CUT UK enters December having already surpassed its previous record year.
Bruce Sinclair, business development manager, said: “CUT will see a significant jump in revenue. We have completed more cutting projects than ever before and have brought in a record 13 new clients.”
The North Sea is the core region for CUT, but they have been busy all over the world, particularly in Africa, Gulf of Mexico, Southeast Asia, and Australia. Bruce added: “We simply haven’t had a quiet moment in 2025. Our expert service is in high demand and has seen us work with many new clients in several countries, not just in oil & gas decom, but also in wreck removals, renewables decom, pipeline installations, and nuclear.”
The North Sea was again an important region, with CUT active on most of the major decom projects including Thistle, Veslefrikk, Jotun, PCP and HOD, 48/29B, Amethyst, L7 field, Dana towheads, Knarr & Gaupe and Cormorant Alpha.
CUT attended and presented at the OEUK event in St Andrews last week, and shared how CUT have collaborated with clients to overcome significant challenges and bring creative solutions that provided clarity, to ensure that the safe, efficient decom of assets was completed.
During the event, the budget was announced. Bruce said: “The collective disappointment at the event was tangible. It certainly felt like a make-or-break moment for the region, and the windfall tax is crippling the energy industry. Short term, it might be good for the decom sector, but that’s not the point. Jobs will be lost, companies will move elsewhere, energy will have to be imported. Less investment in the North Sea means less decom overall. Despite the Government not listening, it actually makes it even more important that bodies like AGCC and OEUK keep shouting loudly and repeat what all of their members are saying.”
