Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce members, Cutting Underwater Technologies Limited are ending 2022 with a big announcement.

CUT has completed the signing of a framework agreement with Heerema Marine Contractors for the provision of worldwide cutting services. Bruce Sinclair, Business Development Manager said “This four year award is a testament to the fantastic performance of the whole CUT team, consistently achieving the highest standards and surpassing expectations. 2022 was a particularly satisfying year for CUT and HMC, with successful cutting services completed on the Brae Bravo, Kinsale, Murdoch and Ketch projects. CUT look forward to completing a number of projects for HMC in 2023 and beyond.”

Cutting Underwater Technologies, based in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, has completed over 1,000 projects and 7,700 successful cuts. Bruce said “90% of our business is oil and gas decommissioning. We complete cutting in air and in water all over the world, but our main area of activity is the North Sea, although we have been involved this month in a couple of major projects offshore Western Australia. We have seen a significant increase in demand for our services due to our equipment's track record, our personnel's expertise and the unique ability to cut the very largest targets. The outlook for oil and gas decommissioning is extremely positive, but it has also brought huge satisfaction to see awards provided for both renewables decommissioning and installation projects. This will represent a larger percentage of our business in the coming years, and is a sector we intend to support closely”.

Cutting Underwater Technologies has recently added new Project Engineers, workshop personnel and offshore Operators to their headcount. In addition, 72” cutting machines, chain cutters and umbilical spoolers have been added to the fleet, to meet demand. Bruce said “This award from Heerema is the icing on the cake of a very successful 2022. We wish all our clients a very Merry Christmas.”
