Earlier this year a team of Marie Curie volunteers took to the streets of Aberdeen to help raise funds for the Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal.
The Great Daffodil Appeal is the charity’s annual flagship, with 2017 marking its 31st year. Hundreds of volunteers in Aberdeen City and Shire volunteered their time and took to the streets, supermarkets and garden centres handing out the famous daffodil pins in exchange for a donation.
The Aberdeen Street collection raised a fantastic £1982.30.
Marie Curie nurses work day and night in patients’ homes across the UK providing hands on care and vital emotional support to patients living with a terminal illness and their families. Marie Curie services are always free, but their hands –on, specialist end of life care costs £20 per hour. All the money raised through this partnership will help terminally ill people in your local communities.
Lauren Edwards, community fundraiser for Marie Curie said, "A very big thank you to everyone who supported our 2017 Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal. The total amount raised from the street collection equates to 97 hours of crucial hours of nursing care."
