Great British Energy (GBE) has launched an expert Energy Taskforce, bringing together business, industry, and academic leaders to help accelerate the UK’s energy transition and ensure it is delivered fairly and effectively.

The first regional group, the Aberdeen Energy Taskforce, was announced recently to focus on harnessing the North east of Scotland’s world-class energy expertise. David Whitehouse, Chief Executive of Offshore Energies UK (OEUK), has been invited to join the team.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the energy sector, David Whitehouse has been a leading voice for the industry, advocating for policies that support investment, jobs, and innovation during the UK’s energy transition.

David Whitehouse, CEO of Offshore Energies UK, said: “I’m delighted to be part of the Aberdeen Energy Taskforce, working alongside colleagues from industry, government, and the community to help shape a fair and practical energy transition for the North east of Scotland.

"Aberdeen has long been at the heart of the UK’s energy story, and this taskforce is an important step in ensuring that the skills, innovation, and world-class supply chain built here continue to drive our energy future.

"Together, we have a real opportunity to deliver a transition that secures jobs, attracts investment, and strengthens the region’s role in global energy leadership.”
