After several years away from Aberdeen, travelling the world and working remotely, Julie Smith has returned to the city with a different perspective on business, technology and the way people connect.
Now taking on the role of Head of Growth at Dax Group, Julie is bringing her experience of relationship building, business development and remote working into Aberdeen’s growing technology and AI community.
Having spent years building a career and working life that was not tied to one location, Julie has experienced first-hand how technology has changed the way businesses operate, communicate and build relationships.
Living and working across different countries also brought a broader perspective on how people connect, collaborate and do business, often across borders, time zones and entirely remotely.
While her travels took her away from Aberdeen, the city’s business community remained an important part of her professional story. Returning has given Julie the opportunity to reconnect with an established network of contacts and draw on many years of experience in the Aberdeen market, while bringing a fresh outlook shaped by her time working remotely and within the digital space.

As Head of Growth, Julie will focus on developing new relationships and opportunities for Dax, connecting with businesses across a range of sectors and helping to identify where Dax’s technology and AI capabilities can deliver genuine value.
A key part of her role will be bringing together two increasingly important sides of modern business, technology and human connection. Julie has extensive experience in initiating conversations, opening doors and developing relationships, and believes that while AI is transforming the way businesses work, successful growth still comes down to people.
Julie said: “I’m very much looking forward to getting settled into the role, meeting our existing clients and building relationships with new potential clients. It’s also great to be part of such a dynamic team here in Aberdeen. I’m looking forward to getting out and about, reconnecting with the local business community and meeting organisations across the region to understand their challenges, explore new opportunities and see where Dax can add real value.”
For Julie, the role represents an opportunity to bring together many of the experiences gained over the past few years, from her long-standing connections within Aberdeen’s business community to working remotely, embracing digital technology and experiencing different approaches to business around the world.
She is particularly looking forward to working alongside the Dax Group team and reconnecting with Aberdeen’s wider business community, while helping businesses understand not just what AI and new technology can do, but where it can genuinely make a difference.
