DDK Positioning has appointed Alexander “Fred” Stockton to the role of Managing Director, as the company enters its second decade of trading.
He joins the Aberdeen-headquartered company following record financial results in 2024/25, with the business now poised to expand the market for its unique, independent and military-grade GNSS solution. Delivering accuracy of less than 5cm, the technology is currently deployed across the offshore energy and maritime sectors, with significant potential for wider application.
Commenting on the appointment, CEO Kevin Gaffney said: “2026 will be a pivotal year for DDK, with significant technological developments set to be unveiled in the months ahead. We’ve reached a point where the opportunity for market expansion is undeniable, and realising that potential means strengthening our commercial and operational capabilities alongside our technical strengths.
“Fred brings exactly that balance, with an impressive track record in business growth combined with a strong understanding of our technology, our customers and the opportunities ahead.”
Fred Stockton added: “Having followed the company since its earliest days, I’ve admired the vision and ambition behind DDK’s success and it’s clear that we have an exceptionally talented team and a technical capability with global, multi-sector potential.
“I look forward to supporting DDK as we take the next step; broadening our applications, strengthening the business and ensuring we’re ready to scale. The focus now is on translating that technical excellence into sustainable, long-term growth.”
Established in 2016, DDK Positioning’s enhanced positioning solution quickly gained recognition, securing a place on the Scottish Enterprise High Growth Ventures programme before achieving full commercialisation in 2021.
Over the past eight years, the company has attracted significant investment from its partnerships with leading global satellite communications provider Iridium and GNSS hardware developer Topcon.
