Deepsea Technologies UK is proud to announce Maggie’s Wirral as its Charity of the Year for 2026, marking the continuation of the company’s commitment to supporting meaningful causes that make a genuine difference to people’s lives.

Following a successful year supporting Many Tears Animal Rescue, Deepsea Technologies UK was keen to continue its charitable focus into 2026. Employees across the business were invited to nominate charities close to their hearts, before taking part in a company‑wide anonymous vote. This process allowed colleagues to share personal stories and heartfelt reasons behind their nominations, reinforcing just how important charitable engagement is across the organisation.

The result was the selection of Maggie’s Wirral — a charity whose work resonates deeply with many within the Deepsea Technologies UK team.

Who are Maggie’s?

Maggie’s Wirral is a cancer support charity dedicated to helping anyone affected by cancer, whether they have been diagnosed themselves or are supporting a loved one. Founded by Maggie Keswick Jencks, Maggie’s was created with the belief that people living with cancer need more than just medical treatment — they need emotional, practical and psychological support in a calm, welcoming environment. Over the past 30 years, Maggie’s has supported more than four million people across the UK, becoming a lifeline for individuals and families during one of the most challenging times of their lives.

Located alongside NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Wirral works closely with clinical teams at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre to ensure people can access support easily and informally. No appointment or referral is needed — people can simply walk in, put the kettle on, and talk to someone who understands. The centre offers a wide range of free services, including one‑to‑one emotional support, help with financial and benefits advice, mental health and psychological support, and wellbeing activities designed to help people regain confidence, strength and a sense of control during treatment and recovery.

What truly sets Maggie’s apart is the environment it provides. Maggie’s Wirral is designed to feel like a home rather than a hospital, offering a safe, caring and non‑clinical space where people can talk openly, share experiences, or simply sit quietly if that’s what they need. For many, it becomes a place of comfort and connection — somewhere they can feel supported, listened to and, most importantly, not alone.

This incredible charity plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families through fear, uncertainty and change, reminding people that even in the hardest moments, compassion, understanding and community can make all the difference.

“We are incredibly proud to name Maggie’s Wirral as our Charity of the Year. So many of our colleagues, their families, and their friends have had their lives touched by cancer, and the support Maggie’s provides is truly invaluable,” “The work their team at The Clatterbridge Centre does every day makes a real difference to people navigating some of the hardest moments of their lives. We’re really looking forward to standing alongside them this year and helping them continue their amazing work.” said Kate Hiroti, HR Advisor, Deepsea Technologies UK Ltd.

What’s next for this partnership?

Deepsea Technologies UK is proud to support Maggie’s Wirral throughout 2026, committing to a year of fundraising, awareness‑raising and meaningful engagement to help support the charity’s vital work.

Across the year, the team will be taking part in a variety of charity activities and fundraising initiatives, all aimed at raising both funds and awareness for Maggie’s and the incredible support they provide. In June 2026, colleagues from Deepsea Technologies UK will be participating in the Wirral Coastal Walk, taking on the challenge to raise money for the charity. This event provides a fantastic opportunity to shine a spotlight on Maggie’s mission, encourage community involvement, and rally further support for people affected by cancer.

Further fundraising initiatives planned for later in the year include a sponsored office cycle challenge, where volunteers will take turns cycling throughout the day to collectively clock up as many miles as possible. Colleagues, friends and supporters will be invited to donate and guess how many miles the team will reach by the end of the challenge, adding a fun and engaging element while supporting a serious and meaningful cause.

Alongside these team‑led activities, a number of individuals from Deepsea Technologies UK will also be taking on their own personal challenges in aid of Maggie’s throughout the year, helping to sustain momentum and support for the charity well beyond a single event.

As part of the partnership, Deepsea Technologies UK is also engaging with the wider support Maggie’s offers to organisations. Maggie’s runs specialist workshops for businesses, including sessions focused on how to support employees affected by cancer — whether personally or through a loved one. One such workshop will be attended by Kate, reinforcing our commitment not only to fundraising, but also to learning how we can better support our people with empathy, understanding and care.

Deepsea Technologies UK is proud to stand alongside Maggie’s Wirral throughout 2026, supporting their mission to ensure that no one faces cancer alone and helping to make positive difference during some of life’s most challenging moments.
