Denis Law Legacy Trust is proud to announce the resounding success of its annual Golf Day, which raised an impressive total to support its mission of transforming the lives of young people through its programming.
Held at Deeside Golf Club and generously sponsored by CNR for the fourth consecutive year, the event brought together local businesses, supporters, and golf enthusiasts for a day filled with friendly competition, fundraising, and community spirit.
The 30-team Texas Scramble took on the stunning 18-hole Haughton Course, teeing off just before 11am. While the weather held, challenging course conditions and tricky pin placements made for a competitive round. The final team returned to the clubhouse just shy of 8pm - making it a full and busy day for the dedicated DLLT volunteers.
Phil McLean returned to host the popular Beat the Pro competition, which saw some impressive performances from participants. Teams also had the chance to boost their gameplay with fun extras like mulligans and lengths of string, adding a playful twist to the day.
The team from Maritime Developments (MDL) had a particularly impressive round and led for most of the day but were ultimately pipped at the post by the plucky Central Bandits from Central Coaches, who narrowly claimed the championship title in a dramatic finish.
Team captain Colin Macleod paid tribute to former DLLT Trustee Lynne Smith, saying: “Today was very special to us, and winning the trophy was unbelievable. Lynne would have been so proud - we know how much DLLT meant to her, and we’re honoured to have won the event for her.”
Lynne Smith was a Trustee of Denis Law Legacy Trust, Director of Central Coaches, and in 2023, received an Honorary Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Robert Gordon University in recognition of her significant contribution to community engagement and extensive charitable work throughout the North East of Scotland. She is incredibly missed—not only by her friends at Denis Law Legacy Trust, but by colleagues and communities across multiple sectors in Aberdeen.
The Trust extends its heartfelt thanks to all who supported the event—especially CNR for their continued sponsorship and to Deeside Golf Club for hosting us so graciously.
The funds raised will directly support the Trust’s award-winning initiatives, including the Streetsport programme, which provides safe spaces and positive activities for young people across Aberdeen. Club 10, supporting families affected by imprisonment and Denis Law’s Academy supporting young people through personal, professional and wellbeing development.
Mark Williams, Chief Operating Officer of the Trust, said: “This incredible day reflects the generosity and commitment of our supporters. Every pound raised helps us reach more young people, offering them opportunities to thrive, stay mentally and physically well, and feel safe in their communities.”
