Creative studio, Design and Code, has collaborated with Glasgow-based social enterprise, Soundplay Projects, to launch ‘House Music’, a brand-new app that enables young people to connect and make music together in real-time.

House Music allows users to create a virtual house where you can invite friends from anywhere in the world to join you to play a range of digital instruments inspired by rooms and objects found in the home.

Soundplay Creative Directors, Ewan Sinclair and Bal Cooke conceived the idea to provide young people of all abilities with a platform for engagement, play and interaction when other options are unavailable.

The app was developed by Aberdeen-based, Design and Code, and tested with partners at Paisley YMCA maker space and young people with additional support needs, through Dundee Contemporary Arts.

Design and Code Founder, Colin Leonard, said, “We’ve worked with Soundplay on a variety of projects over the past five years and it’s been a hugely rewarding experience for us. We are blown away by the great work they do to engage youngsters and communities throughout Scotland and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them to deliver projects that have a positive social impact”.

Ewan said, "Once again it's been great fun collaborating with the Design and Code team on this project. It's amazing to see how our ideas have been developed and brought to life in a considered and creative way!”.

The House Music app is available now to download, for free, from the Soundplay Projects website.
