Dinner to raise dough for The Breadmaker

A North-east charity which focuses on developing the skills of employability of individuals with learning disabilities is holding an auction and dinner dance to raise funds.

The Breadmaker offers training to adults with learning disabilities with the goal of helping them become more employable by getting hands-on experience with customers and gaining valuable workplace skills through an apprenticeship.

The social enterprise, based in Aberdeen’s Rosemount Viaduct, is now in its 14th year of providing structured training, practical experience and social activities to deliver a brighter future for apprentices.

Around 140 people are expected to attend the fundraising evening for the social enterprise on Friday, April 17 (2020) at the Sandman Signature Aberdeen Hotel. The evening will include a three-course meal, complimentary half bottle of wine, a raffle and silent auction plus live entertainment from funk band, Retro Fire.

Donald Anderson, chief executive officer at The Breadmaker, said: “We’re looking forward to seeing as many of our supporters all gathered in one room. Without their help it would be impossible to do what we do. Tables are still available.

“We are committed to facilitating the future of our apprentices by developing their knowledge and confidence allowing them to fully participate within the community and city life.”

Money raised from the event will go towards providing additional support for apprentices and to offer more educational and social opportunities to those engaged by the charity.

Tickets, starting at £80 per person or £800 per table of 10, can be booked by calling 01224 641520 or e-mailing theresa.thebreadmaker@gmail.com
