DNV’s film The Great Transition was awarded three Dolphin Trophies at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards Festival.

Directed by Hugo Keijzer and produced by Yune (Omnicom Group), the film earned a Gold  Dolphin for Corporate Social Responsibility, a Silver Dolphin for Environmental Issues and Sustainability, and a Silver Dolphin for Marketing Communications Business to Consumer.

The international competition annually brings together film producers, agencies and broadcasters to recognize excellence in corporate and documentary filmmaking. Award decisions are made by an international jury of around 100 experts in film, marketing, and communications.

From more than 1,000 submissions representing 38 countries, DNV's The Great Transition emerged as one of the festival's standout productions, receiving three Dolphin Trophies.

Headquartered in Norway, DNV works across the energy value chain to support the transition to a decarbonized energy system through independent assurance, risk management and technical expertise. The six-minute film is part of its broad efforts to accelerate the energy transition by fostering greater engagement around climate action and giving a voice to the 'silent majority' of people who are worried about climate change.

The film draws on findings from DNV’s Energy Transition Outlook 2024. To date, it has been viewed more than 14 million times across social media and continues to be used at events and spark conversations around the energy transition. A second film, an 18-minute documentary, features experts reflecting on what it will take to deliver the energy transition.

Ditlev Engel, CEO of Energy Systems at DNV: “We are very proud that The Great Transition has received this recognition. The film helps bring hope and perspective to people concerned about climate change and keeps the energy transition high on the public agenda. The response shows that there is an audience for fact-based stories that present the energy transition not only as a challenge, but as a transformation society can deliver. This recognition will help us take that conversation further at a time when accelerating the transition to a clean energy future is vital, not only to reduce CO₂ emissions, but also to strengthen energy security in an increasingly turbulent world. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the film, as well as all those working every day to safeguard life, property, and the environment.”

Reaching 250 million people in the next phase

The Great Transition doesn’t stop here. Cconsisting of a documentary series for streaming platforms, along with various types of content and entertainment media, this initiative aims to build a movement of 'energy optimism'. The Story World content and events will be fuelled by research and based on facts. For companies interested in joining, please contact caroline.kamerbeek@dnv.com.

The tenth edition of DNV’s Energy Transition Outlook will be launched on 7 October 2026, presenting DNV’s latest forecast of the most likely development of the global energy mix, supply and demand to 2060.
