Aberdeen Football Club is delighted to confirm the appointment of Nic Heslop as its new Commercial Director.

Nic will take up his role at Pittodrie in June 2026 and arrives with a strong track record across professional sport and the wider events and rights-holder landscape.

He brings over 15 years’ experience in senior commercial roles, including a lengthy spell at Cardiff City, where he oversaw partnerships, sponsorship, CRM and hospitality, delivering consistent year-on-year growth across the department.

More recently, as Commercial Director at Genero Group, he has led a period of sustained performance, driven by a clear sales structure, strong process and a data-led approach to decision-making.

Chief Executive Alan Burrows said: “Nic is a very strong appointment for Aberdeen Football Club.

“He’s got real substance to his experience. He understands what drives revenue in a football environment and, just as importantly, how to build the structure and discipline behind it.

“He comes into a department which is in a good place. Our previous Commercial Director and the team at Pittodrie have done an excellent job over the past few years growing the commercial side of the Club and putting solid foundations in place.

“What stood out during the process was his clarity. He sees the opportunities but also understands the detail of how you deliver on them, which is just as important.

“Nic’s job now is to take that on, bring his own energy and ideas, and help us move it forward again. There’s a next level for us commercially and we believe he’s the right person to lead that.”

Across his career, Nic has built and led high-performing teams, developed new income streams and consistently improved the value of both traditional and digital assets.

He joins the Club at an important stage, with responsibility for leading the commercial operation across partnerships, sponsorship, hospitality, events and digital, as the Club looks to build upon its impressive commercial growth off the field in recent seasons.

Nic Heslop added: “I’m delighted to be joining Aberdeen Football Club.

“It’s a real honour to have been given the opportunity to build upon the strong foundations that are in place here. It is clear this is a Club with real ambition, a highly committed group of partners, and an incredibly loyal supporter base.

“My focus will be to work with the team to build upon those established relationships, making sure we’re as clear and effective as possible in how we go to market, whilst also ensuring we continue to identify and capitalise upon emerging opportunities in front of us.

“The warmth of the people I've come into contact with since accepting the role has been really impressive and can’t wait to begin life in Aberdeen and integrate into the local community.”
