Aberdeen are set to lose out on tens of thousands of pounds after Uefa banned away fans at Pittodrie for their meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt in December.
The German side have been fined €30,000 (£26,232) after their supporters lit fireworks and threw objects during an earlier group game with HJK Helsinki.
The knock-on effect will likely cost the Dons nearly of £40,000 in ticket sales, as well as hitting businesses who were set to bonus from thousands of travelling fans.
The away end at Pittodrie holds 1,750 fans which, at €25 (£21.86) a ticket, would have generated an additional €43,750 (£38,255) for Aberdeen in their final European game of the season.
The meeting with Bundesliga's seventh-placed team on December 14, three days before the League Cup final. will now be played with only home fans in the stadium.
In a statement on Frankfurt's website, board member Philipp Reschke said: "The punishment is harsh, but considering Uefa’s previous sanctioning practice it is not unusual.
"The sanction was expressly imposed not only for the cup throwing, but also for the repeated pyrotechnics.
"We don’t yet know the exact reasons for the verdict, but realistically the chances of success of an appeal are not good given this initial situation.
"We will discuss the consequences and further action at very short notice."
