The founder and president of a leading Aberdeenshire-based casing accessory and completion tool company has handed over the reins.
After more than two decades, Downhole Products’ president Ian Kirk has stepped aside from his role to be succeeded by Mark Dundee.
Ian helped found the company in 1994 and has steered the organisation from its roots in the back of an Aberdeen motorcycle repair shop. Ian and his partners Bill Baron and Alistair Clark grew the business from a UK-based company to a truly global firm with regional offices in Dubai, Kuala Lumpur and Houston. More recently Downhole Products set up sales office in Azerbaijan, Vietnam and Australia as well as localised manufacturing plants in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and the USA.
Ian will retain his strong links with Downhole Products thanks to a consultancy role where his main focus will be technical training, technical client support, product development support and intellectual property.
Mark Dundee joined the company in 2001 and has worked in a number of roles including warehouse operative, technical sales engineer, manufacturing manager and, most recently, global operations manager.
Ian Kirk said: “Company performance has been exceptional, particularly during the past five years, and it has been gratifying to steer the ship under these circumstances. I will leave the company knowing that it is in the capable hands of Mark who has stepped up to the plate with his vigour and knowledge.”
Mark Dundee added: “Everyone at Downhole Products is very grateful to Ian for everything he has achieved over the years, and we look forward to continuing to build on that success in the future. Ian will be sorely missed but we are very grateful that he continues to support us in his consultancy role.”
