Despite rain hammering the North-east over the weekend, 80 hardy volunteers took part in Our Union Street's first volunteer clean up.

Between 10AM and 3PM on Saturday, the volunteers helped spruce up the St Nicholas Kirkyard.

Donned in bright purple bibs, the crew began picking up leaves, branches and weeding the cemetery.
