North-east drivers slowed traffic to around 10mph on the A90 last night as part of a fuel protest.

The 'slow protest' took place between Ellon and Blackdog with a convoy led by a tractor and trailer in a bid to oppose rising energy and fuel costs.

The protest began at 5pm and ended at 8pm on Wednesday, led by a trailer bearing the message “axe the tax”.

Videos shared on social media show other motorists joining the convoy, with queues forming behind and some drivers sounding their horns.

Those involved said they were supporting local farmers, hauliers and small businesses with the protest.
