For the first time in its history, Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky is throwing open its doors at Huntly for a behind-the-scenes exclusive experience to some of its most sought-after vintage and rare whiskies, as part of the annual Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.

Normally closed to the public, the team at their Aberdeenshire HQ have embarked on creating a VIP afternoon, aimed at whisky connoisseurs.

Guests will meet at their King Street premises before embarking on an insider’s look at their own cooperage on site to see the time-honoured skill for themselves.  The opportunity to sample a rare whisky directly from the cask will take place in their newly built warehouse.

Senior Hospitality and Spirits Manager Ian Logan will guide them through five exceptional premium whiskies from five different decades, including a very special 1960s dram from Caperdonich, followed by whiskies from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s.

A specially curated gourmet lunch is included at the Bank Restaurant which the company owns and showcases a huge portfolio of their whiskies including their own pours.

Spirits Manager Ian Logan explains: “As one of the oldest independent bottlers, our portfolio of whiskies is incredible. Whilst we don’t have a Visitor’s Centre, we decided to create something different for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival this year, especially for whisky enthusiasts.  It allows us to showcase some of the finest malts Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky are lucky enough to own.”

The company is taking part in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival with two events. The Bottler Archive Experience with a Decade-by-Decade Tasting has limited availability left.  The other event, called ‘Would We Lie To You’ is a fun evening with a panel of experts where guests can sample three drams from their Octave portfolio and try and align with who is telling the truth on the panel as to what the whisky is inside the glass.

Logan continues: “The response to ticket sales has proved that there is an appetite for more of the Decade experience so we may use this as a launch pad for some further events later this year.”

Tickets for their Spirit of Speyside events include the Bottler Archive Experience, priced at £200, remaining tickets can be found here – https://spiritofspeyside.citizenticket.com/events/spirit-of-speyside/an-independent-bottler-archive-experience-with-a-decade-by-decade-tasting-with-duncan-taylor-scotch-whisky/
