Aberdeen-based facilities management professional Marius Coste has been shortlisted in three categories at the Cleaning Excellence Awards 2026, recognising his professional contribution, leadership and commitment to continuous improvement.

Marius, who works for Elior UK across North-east Scotland, is a finalist in the Unsung Hero Award, Going Above and Beyond Expectations and Rising Impact Leader Award categories. The awards ceremony will take place on 3 December 2026 at Coventry Building Society Arena.

His role encompasses cleaning operations, colleague development, client relationships, and service improvement. He has also been involved in initiatives exploring drone technology for window cleaning and robotic cleaning solutions, reflecting the potential for innovation to support the future of facilities management.

Alongside his professional responsibilities, Marius founded Miles of Smiles in 2021, a fundraising and awareness campaign supporting SAMH and Clan Cancer Support.

Built around the message “You are never alone”, the campaign uses running, walking, cycling, fundraising costumes and cold-water challenges to raise money and encourage conversations about mental health and cancer support.

As of 24 October 2026, Miles of Smiles had raised more than £12,741 overall, including over £5,741 for SAMH and Clan Cancer Support since June 2025. During its current 82-week challenge, Coste had completed 4,596 kilometres of activity and 72 consecutive weeks without missing a week.

Commenting on the nominations, Marius said: “I’m incredibly humbled and grateful to be named a finalist in three categories, proudly representing Elior UK. This recognition means a great deal to me, and I’m particularly thankful to the cleaning teams, colleagues, clients and partners whose dedication and support make a difference every day.

“For me, leadership is about people, teamwork, continually improving and making a positive difference wherever we can. I hope this recognition also shines a light on the many people across our industry who work tirelessly behind the scenes.”

The nominations highlight the contribution of cleaning and facilities management professionals to workplaces, businesses and communities across the region.
