Marius Coste of Elior UK is continuing a 19-month charity initiative aimed at raising awareness of mental health in the workplace while supporting charities across Scotland.

Now in week 45, the “Miles of Smiles” challenge has seen Marius cover more than 2,800 kilometres through running, cycling and walking activities in multiple locations, with each week involving a different themed run to encourage engagement and visibility.

As part of the initiative, Marius recently participated in Aberdeen parkrun in costume, using the platform to highlight the importance of recognising and supporting mental wellbeing among colleagues in professional environments.

The campaign is raising funds for SAMH and Clan Cancer Support, with a focus on increasing awareness of how mental health challenges can impact individuals within the workplace.

Since launching in June 2025, the initiative has:

  • Covered over 2,825 km
  • Raised more than £3,300 for charity, in addition to £7,000 previously raised for SAMH
  • Included a series of additional endurance elements such as cold-water activities

Businesses and organisations across the North-east are invited to support the initiative through partnership opportunities or by promoting awareness of the campaign and its objectives.

With 37 weeks remaining, the challenge continues to combine physical activity with a focus on workplace wellbeing and community engagement.
