Aberdeen-based Elior UK group cleaning manager, Marius Coste, is proving that business leadership goes far beyond the workplace.

His 78-week Miles of Smiles challenge — running 50km in costume every week until December 2026 — is raising funds for SAMH and Clan Cancer Supportwhile inspiring communities across the North-east.

Now 16 weeks in, Marius has already covered 1,130km, endured 100+ cold showers, and raised £1,700, adding to the £7,000 he raised in 2021. His latest milestone saw him run as a Minion alongside his daughter Daisy, the “Magic Dragon,” at Albyn School Nursery’s Founders’ Day Fun Run, where families helped raise £700 in a single afternoon.

“This isn’t just about the miles — it’s about bringing people together. The smiles, the cheers, the costumes — that’s where the real magic lies,” said Marius.
