A net zero transition partner has significantly expanded its renewable assets and its services for commercial businesses, thanks to a £3.2million funding boost from HSBC UK.

Biosus Energy, which advises and installs green energy solutions for businesses across the UK, will use the funding to purchase 14 state-of-the-art Combined Heat and Power Generators.

Ecogenesis Ltd, the project developer for the 14 state-of-the-art machines and part of the Biosus Energy Holdings group of companies, will operate the generators and convert sustainable wood into heat and power to provide base power to green the UK national grid using cutting-edge technology. The systems will also produce valuable byproducts - wood chips and biochar - which can be sold to improve soil composition and support the circular economy.

To support the deployment and operation of these systems, six jobs will be created across Scotland, including roles in South Lanarkshire and Aberdeen. The investment will also support local spending near the operational sites, boosting regional economies and green skills development.

Biosus Energy already supports large-scale enterprises, such as whisky distilleries and manufacturing plants, in transitioning to sustainable energy. Its solar power solutions are designed to require no upfront capital from clients, offering a flexible, fully-funded model that enables businesses to adopt renewable energy without financial barriers. The company offers a full suite of advisory and installation services, including solar panels, wind turbines, and now biomass-based CHP systems.

Garth Way, co-founder at Biosus Energy, said; “This is an exciting time of expansion for us, the funding from HSBC will support our plans to double our turnover and create up to 6 new jobs. We value the expertise and support that HSBC UK provides and would not be in this stage of business development without them.”

Tim Laundon, relationship director at HSBC UK, said; “We are pleased to continue our support for Biosus and its goal of supporting companies through the green energy transition. We look forward to seeing Biosus embark on its new chapter providing further services to its clients with this investment.”
