The new sponsor of the Run Garioch 10k, Cala Homes (North), is encouraging runners from fellow AGCC member organisations to enter the first-ever ‘Cala 10k AGCC Cup’.
The prize, affectionately known as the ‘Chamber Cup’, is awarded to the fastest team of four from any AGCC member organisation taking part in Run Garioch’s new Cala 10k on 10 May 2026.
Teams can be mixed or single-sex and the times of all four runners will count in the calculation of the winner. There is no limit to the number of teams of four any AGCC member organisation can be represented by, but each team must have a different name.
The winning team will have their name engraved on the ‘Chamber Cup’ and have a charitable donation made on their behalf.
Samantha Leckie, marketing manager at Cala Homes (North) said: “Events like the Run Garioch 10k are a fantastic team building opportunity for colleagues to come together, in this case supporting a wonderful local facility, as well as the potential to support causes close to their hearts.
“The Chamber Cup is a great addition to the event and we hope to see lots of fellow AGCC members take part.”
AGCC commercial director Jason Stewart added: “As Champions of the North-east Scotland regional economy, the Chamber are delighted to be working alongside Run Garioch to invite employees from our 1300 member organisations to compete for the Cala 10k AGCC Cup.
“The competition presents a fun and challenging opportunity for runners to experience the breathtaking views in Aberdeenshire and an opportunity to network with fellow sports enthusiasts from our local business community.”
Six teams raced to win the first ‘Chamber Cup’ at Run Garioch 2025 – including HCS, Ledingham Chalmers, NFU Mutual Aberdeen City & Shire, Boskalis and CNRL – with Altrad Sparrows ultimately taking home the trophy.
Christine Appel, Run Garioch’s event manager, said: “We introduced the ‘Chamber Cup’ in 2025 to encourage a bit of friendly competition between local businesses, as well as to give organisations an opportunity to build wellbeing, fitness and team spirit. We hope even more teams take up the challenge in 2026.”
All funds raised at Run Garioch support the work of the Garioch Sports Centre, as well as other local charities.
Entries to all Run Garioch events – including the Cala 10k, the Mackie’s 5k, the McWilliam Lippe Half-Marathon and the CP&Co. Junior Run – are now available on www.rungarioch.co.uk.
Cala Homes has just unveiled its Conglass Brae development, located off Balhalgardy Rise in Inverurie.
