Mearns & Gill, the Aberdeen-based creative marketing agency, is proud to announce the official launch of Trades Awards 2025 – an annual celebration honouring the exceptional individuals, teams, and businesses across the North Scotland trades and construction sector.

Now in its 13th year, the Trades Awards continues to be a standout platform dedicated to recognising the hard work, innovation, and craftsmanship that drive one of the UK’s most important industries. W M Donald, experts within the civil engineering and construction sector, are the main sponsor of this year’s event.

With many large and exciting projects taking place in the North-east, the role of construction professionals has never been more crucial. From housing and infrastructure to green energy and digital design, the sector is evolving fast, and the Trades Awards aims to shine a spotlight on the talent behind these projects.

Mike Wilson, managing director at Mearns & Gill says: “The North Scotland construction industry is the backbone of the progress being made in the region. The sector builds our homes and industries, powers our cities and towns, and shapes the world we live in. The Trades Awards is an opportunity to shine a light on the brilliant people and projects in the area, who might not otherwise choose to shout about these successes.”

The awards are open to businesses of all sizes, from sole traders to national companies with an office in the North-east. The categories are diverse, ranging from company awards that reward sustainability or customer service, to people-based awards for apprentices, tradespeople, and site managers. There is also the ‘Rising Star’ award for those in the early stage of their career, and the most prestigious award of the evening, ‘Outstanding Contribution’, for those who have dedicated their career to supporting the construction industry.

This year, the awards welcome three new categories to reflect the initiatives and advances within the sector: ‘Community Engagement’, ‘Construction Consultancy of the Year’, and ‘Health, Safety & Wellbeing’.

Elaine Donald, director, W M Donald, main sponsor of this year’s event, added: “We are extremely passionate about showcasing the talent we have across the North of Scotland, and also highlighting the incredible career opportunities the industry offers. The Trades Awards celebrates businesses of all sizes, from start-ups to large corporates, but the real magic of the awards is always the inspiring people behind the applications. That’s who make the Trades Awards, and we’re already looking forward to reading through this year’s applications.”

The deadline for entering Trades Awards 2025 is 27th June, with finalists being announced on 4th August, and winners announced at a black-tie ceremony at Ardoe House on 7th November.
