ESS has appetite for north-east businesses

ESS Support Services Worldwide, continues its tradition of using quality, local ingredients to help secure top awards and aid a much-loved north-east charity through the on-going partnership with two of their exclusive local suppliers.

ESS food operations manager, Graham Singer, and his expert team were joined by Jimmy Buchan, star of BBC’s Trawlermen and owner of Amity Fish Company, at the 2016 IKA Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany.

Mr Buchan travelled out to Germany to hand-deliver a range of his fresh seafood, a key component in the ESS team’s five-course gastronomique, supporting them in securing three bronze medals at the European event.

Mr Singer commented: “The north-east larder is world renowned for its exceptional quality and unrivalled provenance. There’s no doubt in my mind that using local, quality produce across the competition and as part of our service offering, contributes to delivering culinary excellence across our business.”

ESS which provides catering, retail, leisure and support services to the defence, offshore and remote industry, is also once again working closely with local beverage supplier, Summerhouse Drinks. Following the successful launch of its raspberry lemonade in conjunction with Barra Berries, ESS has worked exclusively with the Peathill company to develop this beverage along side its misty lemonade into a new range of canned drinks, aligned to environmental policies both on and off shore.

The raspberry drink, which is an all-natural fruit juice, donates a percentage of its sales to the Oil & Gas Chaplaincy, a charity that provides financial support to past and present oil industry workers. The new range will be launched at the beginning of March.

Mr Singer added: “Having worked with Barra Berries and Summerhouse drinks to develop the drink for our customers’ staff to enjoy, I’m delighted that we’re now able offer a wider range of healthy all natural drinks to the workers offshore.

“Working with the north-east suppliers to further enhance the local economy as well as continuing to support the Oil & Gas Chaplaincy has been a hugely worthwhile project and I’m sure those working offshore will also be pleased to know that through their purchases they’ll be adding their support.”
