Blackadders LLP is offering professionals the chance to be a fly on the wall at an employment tribunal hearing.
The long established law practice is running a series of mock tribuals across Scotland centred around a discrimination scenario.
Kasia, an employee of Millars’ Mince Company has lodged a claim on the basis of discrimination after seeing ill-judged Facebook post shared by colleague Donna. Donna’s post said: 'Vegans are new-age travellers. Share if you want this fad to be over' and included a picture of a woman hugging a tree. As a vegan, Kasia is outraged and has lodged a claim for discrimination against Millars’ Mince Company.
The event will explore whether being a vegan amounts to a protected characteristic; whether Millar's Mince can be held liable for Donna's post; and whether Kasia's claim would be successful at tribunal.
The mock tribunals will take place in Fife on October 25, Aberdeen on October 28, Glasgow on October 30, Edinburgh on October 31 and Dundee on November 7.
Each session lasts approximately one hour and the events are free but spaces are limited to a maximum of two people per organisation so booking is required.
