International School Aberdeen (ISA) is inviting prospective families and the local community to a Family Fun Open Day that showcases the vibrant experiences defining the school’s unique approach to education.
Taking place this Saturday, April 18, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, the event offers a hands-on look at the specialised programs that make ISA a standout choice for families in the region.
As Aberdeen’s only International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, ISA is known for a curriculum that encourages students to be inquirers and thinkers. This event aims to highlight the dynamic opportunities that are woven into the daily life of the school - programs that help students build confidence and resilience while exploring new passions.
The Open Day is designed to let visitors jump straight into the action. Guests will be able to try their hand at circus skills, including the challenge of mastering a unicycle, or test their strength on the school’s indoor climbing wall. These are core ISA activities that provide students with a sense of balance and achievement from a young age.
For those interested in the intersection of creativity and problem-solving, both the Art studios and Design Technology labs will be open for short activities with a take-home creation, while visitors can also experience the immersive room, new this year.
The event also highlights ISA’s role as a sporting hub for the North-east. With indoor and outdoor facilities including sports halls, swimming pool, astroturfs & tennis courts, the campus is the home base for everything from competitive judo and volleyball to local basketball, badminton and swimming lessons. Many of these clubs and facilities are open to local residents, offering a vibrant space for the community to stay active during evenings and weekends. Whether your child is an aspiring athlete or looking to try a new sport for the first time, the Open Day provides a first-hand look at the world-class resources available to both students and the public.
Many of these signature ISA activities are also a central part of the school's popular Summer Camp programme. Known for providing a high-energy environment where children can stay active and engaged during the holidays, the camp is a sell-out success every year. To meet growing demand, ISA has added an extra week to the schedule, now running for a total of five weeks. While the initial four weeks are already fully booked, ISA has added an extra week from July 6th–10th to meet growing demand. This expansion allows even more children from across the city to experience the ISA spirit, and bookings for this extra week are open now.
Nick Little, Head of School at ISA, said: “We want to show, not just tell, what makes ISA such a dynamic place to be. Life here is varied and fast-paced, and we wanted an event that captures that spirit. By having our students lead the tours every half hour, we’re giving families the chance to hear the real story of ISA directly from the people who live it every day.”
Whether you are exploring the expansive outdoor play parks or testing your skills in the gym, the Family Fun Open Day is the perfect way to see how ISA fosters a lifelong love of learning.
The event is free and open to all, running from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Visitors can drop in at any time, though online registration is encouraged and you can sign up on the website at: https://isa.aberdeen.sch.uk/
