A local charity is inviting families across the North-east to join in some Easter fun for the next two weeks as Easter Anguston Farm re-opens its doors this weekend for the holidays. The Peterculter-based farm is run by VSA and is an educational training facility with the primary purpose of supporting adults with learning difficulties to gain work experience while supporting trainees to broaden their skills and gain recognised SVQ qualifications. It has been closed since Christmas and has been undergoing exciting changes following successful funding from the Just Transition Fund (JTF).

Easter Anguston Farm re-opens from Saturday, April 1 – Sunday, April 15, 10am - 3pm daily, with the café, animals, easter trails & fun, Bobs Buddies, and the Critter Keeper available to visitors over the Easter period.

Over the next two weeks, visitors can meet beautiful owls from Bobs Buddies, based in Easter Anguston Farm's Education and Learning Centre. In this session, you'll learn more about the birds and get to see them up close - as well as enjoy a photo opportunity (Suitable for all ages). Why not also get up close and personal while learning about weird and wonderful exotic animals from around the world in a fun-filled educational 1-hour workshop for the whole family? Booking is required for both activities.

As a result of funding received, the charity has been making upgrades across the farm to become more sustainable, including installing new polytunnels where they will grow their own strawberries this year and encourage ‘farm to fork’ as well as having a new playpark in place. The improvements are set to be completed by Summer 2023. The Just Transition Fund (JTF) is a £500 million ten-year commitment by The Scottish Government that supports projects in the North East and Moray which contribute towards the region’s transition to net zero.

John Booth, Interim CEO for VSA, says, “We are looking forward to re-opening our doors this Saturday for two weeks so that families can once again come and enjoy the surroundings of Easter Anguston Farm during the school holidays. We are in the process of installing new equipment in our play area which we are sure everyone is going to love, unfortunately, this won’t be ready by Easter opening but will be ready for Summer. The ongoing improvements generously made possible by The Just Transition fund will be worth the wait but visitors this weekend can enjoy familiar sights such as our farm animals and fantastic café run by CUP as well as a special Easter trail and visits from Bob’s Buddies and the Critter Keeper.”

Anna Garden, Director of Children, Families and Education Services for VSA says, “We are really looking forward to welcoming back visitors over the next two weeks as are our team of trainees. We have missed our regular and new visitors but when they return in Summer, we are excited to showcase our upgrades and exciting additions to the farm.”
