Favourable market conditions drive demand at Thainstone’s plant, machinery and equipment sale

The North and North East’s largest plant, machinery and equipment sale attracted more than 2,000 bidders, including a variety of buyers from across the UK and Ireland flocking to Thainstone Centre at the weekend.

The top price of the day was achieved by a 2010 JCB 3CX digger which realised £28,800, followed by a Hitachi 135 14-ton tracked excavator which sold for £24,500. A notable price of £20,000 was also realised for a Manitou MT1440 telehandler.

The farm machinery and equipment section had a Chieftain tri-axle low-loader achieve £7,500; while the light commercials and 4x4s category was led by a 2011 VW Bluebird mini-bus which was purchased for £7,000; and a 2013 Ford Transit Custom 270 Eco-te which realised £6,900.

In the trailers, caravans and containers, a 2008 Bailey Senator Carolina 6-berth sold for £6,100; while the heavy commercials section was topped by a 2004 DAF CF85.340 8x4 tipper which was purchased for £6,000.

Mark Barrack, Head of Specialist Auctions at ANM Group, said: “We are pleased with the overall results achieved at another successful collective sale of plant, machinery and equipment. Strong demand was evident on the day across all sections with lots selling consistently due to a weaker sterling currency, which encouraged more bidders to look for good quality second-hand equipment.

“The top price of the day was achieved using our online bidding platform i-bidder, which conveniently enables customers to purchase lots from anywhere in the world using their mobile phone, tablet or desktop computer.

“The sale continues to grow in popularity and go from strength to strength, which is a testament to the hard work and effort put in by our team. With the next sale just around the corner, we invite all interested to put their entries forward and come along to experience the region’s largest collective auction in person.”

The next plant, machinery and equipment sale is scheduled for Saturday, September, 16 2017 from 9am at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie. Consignors are encouraged to advise of their entries as soon as possible to receive maximum exposure to potential buyers.
