Cycling Without Age Scotland – Inverurie & Kemnay, working in partnership with community initiative Miles of Smiles, has delivered a mid-week festive event last week across Inverurie and Kemnay.

The activity brought volunteers, residents and local businesses together in a celebration of seasonal goodwill and social connection.

The event featured a trishaw convoy led by Santa and supported by local volunteers, with Marius Coste, an FM professional with Elior UK, contributing to the day’s humour by appearing as the Grinch. Businesses across both towns welcomed the group as it travelled through community spaces, helping to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere.

Residents engaged with volunteers throughout the route, reinforcing the importance of social interaction and the role community-led initiatives play in reducing isolation. Graham Watson and the Cycling Without Age Scotland team demonstrated their ongoing commitment to improving mobility, dignity and joy for older adults in the North-east.

The collaboration between Cycling Without Age Scotland – Inverurie & Kemnay, Miles of Smiles and local businesses provided an example of how corporate involvement can support community wellbeing. Visibility in shared public spaces helped strengthen relationships, promote trust and create meaningful experiences for residents.

Marius, spokesperson for Miles of Smiles, said: “This festive initiative highlighted the positive impact that partnerships between volunteer groups and local businesses can have on community wellbeing. The support shown in both towns was remarkable, and the engagement from residents underlined the value of bringing people together in this way.”

The event concluded with strong positive sentiment from participants, volunteers and businesses, marking it as a successful example of seasonal collaboration within Inverurie and Kemnay.
