On Tuesday, community initiative Miles of Smiles delivered a festive visit to Albyn School Nursery, bringing seasonal cheer to toddlers and preschool children as part of its ongoing programme of community engagement.

The visit featured music, dancing and festive fun, with Miles of Smiles founder Marius Coste appearing as the Grinch, creating an inclusive and uplifting atmosphere for children, staff and families. The activity highlighted the positive role community-led initiatives can play in supporting wellbeing and strengthening local connections.

The visit also forms part of an ongoing 78-week personal challenge undertaken by Marius in support of Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH) and Clan Cancer Support. The campaign involves running 50km every week, alongside regular cold-water exposure, to raise awareness and funds for mental health and cancer support services.

Campaign progress since June 2025 includes:

  • 1,810km completed
  • £2,720+ raised for SAMH and Clan Cancer Support
  • 151 cold showers and 38 cold dips

Speaking on behalf of Miles of Smiles, Marius said: “Spending time with the children was a heart-warming reminder of how powerful simple moments of joy and connection can be. We are incredibly grateful to Albyn School Nursery for the warm welcome and humbled to see Miles of Smiles continuing to grow as a community movement.”

The initiative continues to engage schools, charities, businesses and community groups across the North-east, using shared experiences to promote wellbeing, inclusion and social connection.
