A Fatal Accident Inquiry into the Stonehaven rail tragedy has found a number of safety failings, but concluded no further recommendations are needed.
The derailment in August 2020 caused the deaths of driver Brett McCullough, 45, conductor Donald Dinnie, 58, and passenger Christopher Stuchbury, 62.
Following an FAI at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Sheriff Lesley Johnston has published her 199-page determination.
The Press and Journal reports the vast majority of 20 safety recommendations made following an earlier investigation had already been implemented, while the remaining measures were being actively progressed and monitored.
During the FAI, the court heard from witnesses that there had been poor communication between workers about drainage and planning for extreme weather.
