Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce has secured funding to run a second programme of Net Zero Training for SMEs.
The training - which is fully funded and free for businesses - will be delivered over four sessions between March and June and is designed to help small and medium-sized companies start their journey to net zero.
The workshops will be held in person at the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce offices in Bridge of Don.
What will be covered?
Workshop 1 – Introduction (Thursday 24th March)
This workshop will provide context to the climate emergency and net zero looking at data, definitions, concepts, policy and regulation. It will look at how organisations can start to assess the risks to their organisations and the need to build future resilience taking into account both the need to mitigate emissions but also impacts from the changing climate.
Workshop 2 – Monitoring and measuring (Thursday 28th April)
This workshop will focus on sources of emissions and how you monitor and measure your impacts as an organisation, understanding boundaries, scope and the role of offsetting. It will include the opportunity for participants to work through practical examples.
Workshop 3 – Reducing emissions (Thursday 26th May)
This workshop will focus on the practical actions that organisations can take to reduce emissions and potential ways to get funding or support.
Workshop 4 – Building resilience (Thursday 30th June)
In this workshop organisations will look at how to develop a net zero plan, look at examples from other companies and provide opportunities to network with other businesses to help determine practice next steps for your organisation.
As part of the programme, each participating organisation will also be eligible to have a one-to-one meeting with our internal consultant Terri Vogt to discuss issues specific to your business.
How much does the training cost?
The programme is fully funded through the Scottish Government as part of the North East Economic Recovery and Skills Fund and is therefore completely free of charge to participants.
The aim is that on completion of the programme you will have started and be able to progress a plan to deliver net zero for your organisation.
