AMS Accountants Group is entering 2026 with growing momentum in Aberdeen, having secured a number of new client relationships and laid the foundations for a long-term expansion across Scotland.

The fast-growing accountancy, tax and advisory firm continues to scale its Scottish operations following its strategic move into the North-east in 2025. Early traction with owner-managed and mid-market businesses has reinforced demand for a more senior-led, relationship-driven alternative in the professional services market, supporting plans for further growth in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Led by Steven Fraser, Managing Partner (Scotland), and Wendy Atkinson, Director of Growth & Partnerships (Scotland), AMS is building a full-service presence rooted in local knowledge, access to decision-makers and long-term partnership rather than transactional delivery.

“2026 is about building a business that genuinely reflects the region we serve,” said Steven. “We’re seeing strong engagement from businesses who want senior input, straight answers and advisers who are accountable. AMS gives us the platform, backing and culture to build something distinctive in Scotland — without losing the personal touch that clients value.”

AMS’s expansion north of the border is supported by investment from Macquarie Capital, providing the infrastructure and capital to invest in people, technology and regional capability while allowing local leadership to shape the firm’s Scottish identity.

“Clients are looking for advisers who listen, challenge and stay close,” added Wendy. “What attracted me to AMS was the chance to build something with purpose — a practice designed around client needs and community relevance, not just scale. That message is already resonating strongly in the North-east.”

Headquartered in Manchester, AMS supports clients across energy, industrials, technology, property and healthcare. Its £10m+ medical division, serving over 1,500 healthcare businesses UK-wide, is one of several specialist practices the firm plans to develop in Scotland as capability grows.

As the business scales, AMS is targeting the creation of a £20 million Scottish operation and around 200 jobs over the medium term — underpinned by sustainable growth, senior recruitment and deep client relationships.

“This is a rare opportunity to build something properly,” Steven added. “We have the backing, the belief and the freedom to do things differently. Now it’s about execution, community and proving there’s a better way to deliver professional services.”
