Challenges and opportunities for Bowie

The MP for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine Andrew Bowie said he welcomes the challenges and opportunities ahead.

He was appointed this week as a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the new Department for Energy Security and Net Zero,

Mr Bowie told Energy Voice: "Knowing Europe's energy capital as well as I do, I welcome the challenges and opportunities ahead as we reconcile the race to net zero with the transition away from oil and gas, while supporting workers throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK."

First of its kind drive-through

Hungry drivers will now be able to support local when travelling.

A new drive-through focused on showcasing north-east produce opens later this month.

The team at Marshall's Farm Shop on the A96 near Kintore are starting the new addition to help support their busy restaurant.

It is believed to be the first of its kind in the north of Scotland.

The Press & Journal says drivers will be able to grab a bite to eat on thego with an estimated three-minute turn-around.

Serving up their own homegrown beef, pork and eggs, Marshall's will offer up a breakfast and lunchtime menu which will see the drive-through operate from 7am to 4pm.

Big rises for mobile and broadband contracts

Many customers are facing sudden big rises in what they are paying for their mobile phone and broadband contracts, under a system the regulator says is "unclear and unpredictable".

The BBC says millions of customers are facing bill increases of as much as 14% in April, linked to the high rate of inflation.

Ofcom said it was concerned at the degree of uncertainty that customers face as a result. So it is launching an investigation into mid-contract price hikes.

Disney sequels on the way

Disney chief executive Bob Iger has announced sequels for Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia as he detailed plans to turn around its streaming business.

Mr Iger said that Disney's animation studio has sequels "in the works".

The BBC says the group has revealed its first fall in subscriber numbers since its Disney+ streaming service launched in 2019. Mr Iger is cutting 7,000 jobs in a major shake-up of the entertainment giant.

Engines test for Starship rocket system

SpaceX has performed a key test on its huge new rocket system, Starship.

Engineers conducted what's called a "static fire" - simultaneously igniting 31 out of 33 of the engines at the base of the vehicle's lower-segment.

The firing lasted only a few seconds, with everything clamped in place to prevent any movement.

Starship will become the most powerful operational rocket system in history when it makes its maiden flight. The BBC says this could be in the coming weeks, assuming SpaceX is satisfied with the outcome of the test.

Musk could soon regain title of world's richest

Elon Musk is on the cusp of reclaiming his position as the world's richest person after a surge in Tesla's share price.

Bernauld Arnault, the chief executive of LVMH, surpassed him in December as investors lost confidence in Mr Musk's Tesla and grew concerned at his focus on Twitter.

But Tesla shares have rallied in recent weeks. The Telegraph says Tesla shares climbed by almost 5% yesterday, putting Mr Musk's net worth at £153billion - just behind Mr Arnault.
