New Chinese restaurant opens in Aberdeen with hopes to ‘attract lots of people’ to Union Street

Fellow Aberdeen University graduates Lasco Lui and Jue Wang have opened a new “truly authentic” Chinese restaurant in the Granite City.

The new restaurant, Luna Chinese Bistro, near Soul bar, opened on July 21 on Union Street, in the unit previously occupied by Thai restaurant Kin Kao.

The duo, who have lived in Aberdeen for three years, hope they can help to boost footfall on the city centre stretch.

Man who led Aberdeen’s Tall Ships bid on how tourist tax millions will bring more big events to city

Matthew Williams reckons the Tall Ships extravaganza is the perfect example of how Aberdeen’s upcoming tourist tax cash could be spent.

The senior council official signed off on the bid to bring the major multi-day event to the city’s port almost two years earlier.

The only rule on how the money must be used is pretty simple: The cash must go towards attractions designed to bring people here, fill hotel rooms and boost the economy.

Cost of weight-loss drug Mounjaro could rise significantly

People paying privately for weight-loss drug Mounjaro in the UK face a rise in the cost of the treatment after manufacturer Eli Lilly said it was increasing the list price of the drug by as much as 170%.

It means the suggested price for a month's supply of the highest dose of the drug will rise from £122 to £330, although the rise for lower doses will be smaller.

More generally, retailers who sell the drug may be able to negotiate discounts to the list price, so it is possible the impact on consumers will be limited.
