Starmer does not rule out backing social media ban for under-16s

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has not ruled out banning British under-16-year-olds from social media, saying "all options are on the table".

He said more needed to be done to protect children from social media and that he was watching "what is happening in Australia" where a ban has been recently introduced.

Privately, many Labour MPs and officials have said they expect the UK government to follow Australia's example.

Sarwar in 'unequivocal' apology over made-up quote

Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar has given an "unequivocal apology" after a party leaflet was delivered to homes with a made-up quote from a maternity campaigner.

Claire Fleming spoke out after her picture and a quote criticising NHS provision was posted out in Glasgow.

Fleming is quoted on the leaflet saying: "Local NHS services have deteriorated under SNP. Waiting lists are too high but these aren't just numbers on a bit of paper, these are people's lives. Anas Sarwar and Scottish Labour will fix our NHS."

Star Wars boss departs after leading franchise reboot

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is stepping down after 14 years at the helm of the studio that makes Star Wars, one of the highest-grossing Hollywood franchises in history.

Kennedy, who was picked by Star Wars creator George Lucas to lead the company, will become a full-time producer, the studio said on Thursday, external.

Best known for steering the reboot of the science-fiction series, Kennedy oversaw hits like The Force Awakens but she was also behind the franchise's first ever box office flop - Solo: A Star Wars Story.
