Violence against Aberdeen teachers up 25% in one year

Violence against teachers in Aberdeen schools has risen by 25% in the past year, according to figures seen by BBC Scotland News.

An action plan designed to tackle the issue was drafted by Aberdeen City Council in March last year.

However, council data shows there were 928 reports of violent incidents against school staff in the first three months of this year, up from 740 in the same period in 2024.

Netanyahu accuses Starmer of siding with Hamas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Sir Keir Starmer and other leaders have "effectively said they want Hamas to remain in power".

He also accused British, French and Canadian leaders of siding with "mass murderers, rapists, baby killers and kidnappers".

In a video posted on X addressing Thursday's attack on Israeli embassy staff in Washington DC, Netanyahu said Sir Keir, Emmanuel Macron and Mark Carney wanted Israel to "stand down and accept that Hamas's army of mass murderers will survive".

Nuart OFF this year – with Aberdeen arts spectacular to return next April

Aberdeen’s renowned art festival Nuart has been postponed until next April.

The event has been a staple in the city’s summer calendar for years, attracting thousands of visitors from across the globe.

It is usually held in June, with artists from all over the world descending upon the Granite City to transform its grey walls into colourful works of art.

Olly Murs pulls plug on Glasgow show in stage walk-off

Olly Murs has pulled the plug on his show in Glasgow, after walking off stage because he was struggling with his voice.

The singer left the 14,000-capacity Ovo Hydro venue after about 20 minutes on Thursday night, just six songs into his set.

In a video on social media after the concert, Murs offered fans an apology "from the bottom of my heart".
