Friends of ANCHOR is celebrating the return of its Masked Ball

The brothers behind newly launched OriGins Festival have taken on the cost of the Ball’s marquee to host one of the very first exclusively Scottish gin festival in the country on the weekend that follows the Friday night of the Masked Ball in Duthie Park.

The partnership came about during discussions with Friends of ANCHOR last year which has enabled the charity to bring the Ball back into its annual fundraising calendar after failing to find a marquee event partner last year.

Sarah-Jane Hogg comments; “This partnership with OriGins Festival has been a year in the making. When we met at the end of 2017 it was clear the ingredients were there for a solid working relationship to work collaboratively on a joint event weekend.

“The spectacular marquee in the park is what makes the Masked Ball a special and unique event for our guests to attend so we’re incredibly grateful to have Guy & Mungo on board covering the full cost of the structure.”

OriGins is celebrating their fastest sales on record since tickets for the gin festival went on sale last Friday.

Guy & Mungo Finlayson, the duo behind Banchory and Inverurie Beer Festivals, have seen over 20,000 festival revellers attend their events over the last four years.

The launch of OriGins has been their most successful yet with early bird tickets selling out in the first two days of the event going live. The Scottish Gin Society have thrown their support and weight behind the festival and over 60 craft gin houses from across the country will be involved in the event. The Festival will also only be showing casing Scottish mixers from Summerhouse Drinks, all made an hour’s drive away from the festival site.

OriGins Festival stands apart from the other festivals the brothers have done with this being the first time they’ve included a charity partnership for their event.

The Brothers were down visiting the event site at Duthie Park with Friends of ANCHOR PR & fundraising manager, Sarah-Jane Hogg to toast the success of the Festival launch.

The newly launched festival will have a hugely extensive range of purely Scottish Gins on offer. Making the most of the wild botanicals, talent and the spirit Scotland offers. The brothers will be bringing these exciting elements under the one roof for two days only on November 11 - 12.

There will also be foodie vendors and live-music throughout the festival weekend to bring some of the best drinks, music talent and hospitality the country has to offer.

Mungo Finlayson comments; “We are extremely excited to be given the chance to work alongside Friends of ANCHOR, helping support their passion and drive to bring the very best care, treatment and support for North-east cancer patients.”

“We were always keen to do a city festival and when this opportunity came for a charity partnership it was the ideal motivation to make this event happen in our festival calendar.”

Tickets for OriGINs – The Scottish Gin Festival are available online at www.origins-ginfestival.com and remember to follow the festival social media channels to keep up to speed with what’s happening.

With the brothers taking on the full cost of the marquee, Friends of ANCHOR are in line to maximise the funds raised at their Masked Ball taking place within the event structure the night before on Friday, November 10.

Friends of ANCHOR has a record 500 guests attending the Ball to raise funds for its biggest fundraising appeal to date, Dream Big, to raise £1m towards the University of Aberdeen’s £4.5m campaign to recruit a world-class cancer research team for the city.

As well as MFGF on board as the marquee partner, Friends of ANCHOR has seen a wealth of support for the Ball including Robertsons Group as Platinum sponsor and BP and the University of Aberdeen as Gold sponsors.

MFGF Events would like to thank Mark Kemp and his team at FortyTwo Studio for the continued support with branding our festivals and keep the design fresh.

Sarah-Jane Hogg comments; “We are so grateful for the corporate support from sponsors for this year’s Masked Ball. Particularly with 2017 being such a special year for the charity as we celebrate Friends of ANCHOR reaching the 20-year milestone. “
