Young people from across Aberdeenshire are invited to discover career opportunities in two of Scotland's most dynamic professions at an event next month.
At the Achiever's Event: The Future of Financial Planning and Risk Management, school leaders and students will meet people only a few years older than them who have started to build successful careers in insurance and financial planning.
The Aberdeen Institute of Insurance & Financial Planning attracted hundreds of attendees to its last event, and this year promises to be an even bigger opportunity for attendees to understand the range of careers they could have, what the jobs are really like, and make direct connections with employers.
It will take place from 6pm to 9pm on Thursday 8 October 2026 at Union Kirk on Union Street.
At the heart of the event will be a fireside chat featuring six young professionals. Attendees will hear first-hand stories about how they entered the profession, the challenges they faced, and the opportunities that have helped shape their careers.
The event will showcase the wide variety of roles available, from helping families plan for their financial futures to managing risks for businesses, communities, and major projects. Visitors will gain practical insights into career pathways, professional qualifications, apprenticeships and the skills employers are looking for.
Representatives from leading insurance and financial planning firms will be on hand throughout the evening, giving attendees the chance to ask questions, make connections and explore potential career opportunities.
As well as looking ahead to the future, the event will celebrate the achievements of individuals across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire who have excelled in Chartered Insurance Institute and Personal Finance Society qualifications. Awards will be presented to recognise outstanding academic and professional achievement.
The evening will feature a guest appearance from Matthew Hill, Chief Executive Officer of the Chartered Insurance Institute, who will join local professionals in celebrating the success of the region's rising talent.
