Charlie House has welcomed Heather Kerr to its fundraising team – but the charity’s newest recruit is already a familiar face to many of the families it supports.
Heather has joined the Aberdeen-based children’s charity as Fundraising Executive, bringing with her experience in customer engagement, events and fashion, alongside an existing connection to one of Charlie House’s most popular annual events, Fizz and Fashion.
Before joining Charlie House, Heather worked with Style for Your Shape, which has supported Fizz and Fashion by dressing and styling the parent carers who take to the catwalk as part of the special event.
Fizz and Fashion gives parents and carers supported by Charlie House the opportunity to step away from the demands of caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition and enjoy some well-deserved time to focus on themselves.
Having previously helped the models find their outfits and supported them behind the scenes, Heather will now experience the event from a very different perspective – taking a leading role in its planning and delivery as part of the Charlie House fundraising team.
Heather said: “Charlie House was already a charity I felt a real connection with through my involvement with Fizz and Fashion. Being part of the event and getting to know some of the incredible parents and carers involved gave me an insight into just how important Charlie House’s support is to local families.
“It feels really special to now be joining the team and to have the opportunity to support the charity from the other side. I’m particularly excited that one of the events I’ll be working on is Fizz and Fashion itself – although this time, I’m swapping styling the models for helping to bring the whole event together!
“Fizz and Fashion will return in March 2027 and we’ll be revealing more very soon, so watch this space.”
With more than 1,800 children living with a life-limiting condition across the North-east of Scotland, demand for Charlie House’s specialist support continues to grow. Heather joins the Charlie House team as the charity continues to grow sustainable income to meet the need for its services across the region.
