Robert Gordon's College is delighted to celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of one of its Class of 2026 Leavers, Naira, who will be heading to London this September to study Law (LLB) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
True to the spirit of Robert Gordon’s, academic ambition went hand in hand with rich co-curricular involvement. Naira achieved straight A grades in Advanced Higher English, Modern Studies, and Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies (RMPS) in the 2026 Qualifications Scotland examinations. Her achievements extended beyond the classroom, where she earned the Model UN Best Delegate award representing Germany in the GA4 Special Political and Decolonisation Committee at St Leonard's MUN. At the 2026 Prizegiving ceremony, Naira was awarded the Francis Morrison Prize for Good Service, the James Pyper Prize for success in English, and the Academic Award for Advanced Higher Modern Studies. This exceptional combination of academic achievement, leadership, and service provides a strong foundation for a bright future in the legal sector, with long-term aspirations spanning law and international diplomacy.
Balancing leadership roles as Secretary General of the Model United Nations and Captain of the Senior Debate Club, our Class of 2026 Leaver regularly ran engaging weekly sessions for younger pupils while managing the demands of three independent Advanced Higher dissertations.
Naira shared: “Managing the responsibility of preparing engaging sessions each week, alongside exam preparation and substantial independent work during free periods and after school, was challenging. Ultimately, the experience was incredibly rewarding. It not only strengthened my confidence and ability to manage competing commitments, but also developed skills in organisation, communication, and independent work that I know will be invaluable as I begin studying Law at university.
“My time in co-curriculars like Model UN and Debate was definitely a highlight. Participating in national competitions, winning awards, and taking on leadership roles taught me so much about myself and helped me figure out what I wanted to do beyond school. Special thanks go to Mrs Willets, Mr Campbell, and Mrs Drummond for supporting Model UN, as well as Ms Colquhoun for guiding the Senior Debate Club through successful national as well as regional competitions.
“I hope to pursue a career in the legal profession in London, while recognising that the LLB would also provide me with the flexibility to transition into diplomacy should I choose to do so. This is a potential career pathway that I am particularly keen to explore and feel strongly passionate about.”
Before moving to London for the start of the academic term, Naira is gaining practical experience with a legal work internship at top international law firm Addleshaw Goddard.
