A fund has been launched to support grassroots and community-based organisations across Aberdeen develop and deliver employability projects for citizens facing barriers to employment.

The ABZWorks Development Fund offers grassroots organisations the chance to deliver innovative, locally-focused employability projects, offering up to £10,000 per project.

Aberdeen City Council Finance convener Councillor Alex McLellan said: “This fund will help support local organisations in making a difference in the lives of many across the city.

“Through this, we can help people overcome barriers and build brighter futures for themselves and their families.”

The fund aims to help citizens move closer to employment, training, education, volunteering, or self-employment.

The grants are open to a broad range of activities which will support people aged 16+ who are not in education, training, or employment, to begin and progress on their journey towards employment, from the earliest of stages.

Bids are welcomed from organisations operating across the city, with priority given to organisations in regeneration areas.

This funding opportunity is designed to build and enhance the employability capacity of local organisations and support people in developing skills and confidence for the future.

Activities can include those for parents, as well as those which focus on the development of basic digital skills, or support people with mental health or long-term physical health issues.
