Garden Waste disposal, moving into summer

With the weather getting better, what better way to spend sunny days than giving your garden a tidy now the cold is out? (if you’re lucky enough to have a garden, of course)

If you do plan on doing some gardening in the beautiful weather, please make sure you dispose of your garden waste responsibly. The Council doesn’t provide a kerb-side garden waste collection service (see why here: http://bit.ly/Wastewedontcollect ), but there are other solutions.

You can take it to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre (find your nearest HWRC here: http://bit.ly/AbshireHWRCs) or you can order a discounted compost bin from the Council (http://bit.ly/Composters).

Seasonal garden waste collection points operate right across Aberdeenshire throughout the summer months, for details see: http://bit.ly/Gardenwastecollectionpoints

Disposing of your garden waste correctly is far better for the environment – by sending it to landfill it will simply rot away, providing no value and contributing to the production of greenhouse gases.

Another way to deal with your garden waste is by taking part in a community composting scheme – see below for some information on local schemes.

Tarland community composting scheme

The garden waste is made into compost on a site provided by the MacRobert Trust and bagged to be used by residents.
