Aberdeenshire-based GB Tarpaulins is celebrating five years in business, marking a significant milestone in the continued growth and development of the family-run manufacturing company.
Originally founded by Szymon Burzynski’s father, GB Tarpaulins has remained a family business throughout its five-year history. Szymon joined the company in October 2022, followed by Sophie Burzynski in May 2025, before the pair completed the purchase of the business in October 2025.
Since taking ownership, Szymon and Sophie have continued to invest in the company and its manufacturing capabilities, while building on the foundations established during its first years in business.
The company reached another major milestone in April when it relocated from Unit C at Badentoy Business Centre to Units 1 and 2 at Piper Alpha Business Centre, remaining within Badentoy Industrial Estate. The move has approximately doubled its workshop space and provided additional capacity to support future growth.
GB Tarpaulins manufactures bespoke covers, tarpaulins, bags, netting and other made-to-measure products for customers across a range of industries, including the energy, offshore, subsea and aquaculture sectors.
Szymon Burzynski, managing director of GB Tarpaulins, said: “Reaching five years is a significant milestone for the business. Having joined in 2022 and then taking over ownership last year, it has been rewarding to see how much the company has developed.
“We have continued to invest in our equipment, facilities and capabilities, and the move to our larger workshop has given us even more opportunity to grow.”

Looking ahead, GB Tarpaulins plans to continue investing in its manufacturing capabilities, growing its team and developing opportunities across both existing and new markets.
