Lathallan School has been announced as the headline sponsor of the popular Chapelton Bike Ride, set to take place on Sunday, September 1 2024.

This community spirited bike ride has become a favourite among cyclists from near and far, offering participants the choice of either a 12 or 46-mile route. Non-cyclists are also encouraged to join the event and explore the picturesque estate surrounding Elsick House on foot.

The Chapelton Bike Ride is a non-competitive event that promises a day of family fun. Attendees can look forward to refreshment stalls, entertainment, and activities both before and after the ride.

Since its inception, the Chapelton Bike Ride has successfully raised over £47,000 for charity. This year, all proceeds will be donated to North East Sensory Services (NESS), an organisation dedicated to supporting individuals with severe sight and/or hearing loss in the North-east of Scotland. By participating in the bike ride, attendees will not only enjoy a fantastic day out but also support an incredibly worthy cause.

Headmaster of Lathallan School, Richard Toley said: "We are delighted to be headline sponsor of the Chapelton Bike Ride. At Lathallan, we strongly believe in the power of community and the importance of promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. This event not only brings people together but also raises funds for a worthy cause in our local area. We look forward to a fantastic day of cycling and fun in the fresh air."

Community Fundraiser and Events Coordinator for NESS, Lorraine Middleton said: "Everyone here at North East Sensory Services charity is extremely grateful to Lathallan School for agreeing to be the headline sponsor for this year’s Chapelton Bike Ride. This will most certainly help to raise the profile of NESS and of the vital emotional and practical support the charity provides to over 6,300 people living with significant sight and/or hearing impairment residing in the North East of Scotland.

"We very much look forward to working with the Chapelton and Lathallan event planning team to organise what we hope will be a fantastic day out for both the riders and their families and friends."

Located just eight miles from Aberdeen city centre, Chapelton is rapidly emerging as a thriving and sustainable place to live that will eventually total 8,000 new homes along with a wide range of amenities.
