Pantomime audiences at His Majesty’s Theatre have donated a record sum of money for The Archie Foundation at Aberdeen Royal Children’s Hospital.

Bucket collections at the 2017/18 Qdos pantomimes production Aladdin, starring Jimmy Osmond, raised an incredible £15,369.08 for the charity – the most that has been raised to date and almost £7,000 more than the previous year.

APA chief executive Jane Spiers said: “We were absolutely blown away by the generosity of theatre-goers over the Christmas period and we’re delighted to have broken our past fundraising records for The ARCHIE Foundation, a charity which makes a huge difference to the lives of children and their families when they are sick.”

David Downie, Interim chief rxecutive at The ARCHIE Foundation, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have received this donation from Aberdeen Performing Arts. The generosity of those attending the pantomime over the festive period was incredible to see, and the money raised will play an important role in helping us 'Make the Difference' for local sick children."
